I inquired in almost all jewelry stores in Mega Mall if they will engrave on my friend's wedding rings and there were only two answers:
(1) They will only engrave on rings that were bought in their shop/s
(2) The do not offer any ring engraving services at all.
That was a big surprise. I thought ring engraving is pretty common. Especially since, apart from the difference in metals, it shouldn't be as complicated as engraving on pens (you know those Parker Pens with your name on it?).
There was only one shop that was willing to engrave on the rings I had: Silverworks in the basement (not the kiosk store who wouldn't even tell you that they have another store in the basement that does exactly that). But it was a good thing I asked for a sample product first, because I wasn't happy with what I saw. They're fine for some people and for less important jewelry, maybe, but for wedding rings, I think they're not the right place to go. Their engraving services cost P500 for each ring.
So after more research I finally figured where to go: Rustan's (http://www.rustans.com.ph/contact/contact)
Yep. Rustan's.
I called their Glorietta branch and they even let me talk to whoever is going to engrave on the rings.
The cost: P75 for 8 characters, then P10 for each additional character.
That's cheap.
See, if you wanted to write "Ian & Debbie Sept 9 2012" that would cost you:
P75 = first 8 characters (Ian & Debb)
P110 = P10 x 11 = succeeding characters
So that's a total of P370 for both rings.
And they do it in script. They'll write on your ring manually, in cursive.
